Volunteering Opportunities

Website and Media Development

We have recently created a new website but want this to be a site people really want to visit for useful information thus we would welcome your help to develop the site further and add new content.

Events team

We are planning on holding a variety of talks and training events over the year and could do with a team of volunteers who could help with the setting up and putting away of the village halls plus the making of refreshments, welcoming guests etc, as we will be holding events in a variety of different villages it may be that you are only involved in events in your own village on a very occasional basis.

Walk leaders

We would like to provide a series of walks during the year but will need both someone to lead and someone to be a backstop for each walk, some walks may simply be social walks whilst others may be in search of wildlife or looking at historical sites so whatever your interest you could be of help.

Observers

We have a team of volunteers that keep an eye on our own land and report back to us if any issues need dealing with, if you would like to join the team just let us know.

We are also considering a new post of Volunteer Warden to manage our specific land holdings: Halsway & Thorncombe Hill, Bicknoller Quarry and Over Stowey Customs Common.

Village deliveries

We would like to ensure that people within the Quantock area are all aware of who we are and what we do and thus would like to have a team of people that would drop letters from us into the homes around the villages

An example of this will be when the purchase of the Bicknoller quarry goes through we would like to invite all Bicknoller residents to an event in the Bicknoller village Hall.

Ground work team

We occasionally need to carry out work on our land or on projects we are involved. An example of this will be to help with the planting of trees for our Elm and Hairstreak project.

Wildlife observers

We would love to have a team of people that would like to help with wildife projects such as the Elm and Hairstreak project, we will need observers to look for Mature Elm trees and then for the specific butterflies (eggs, Caterpillars or adults) Training will be provided.

If you are interested in any of these roles, please contact Tracey on [email protected] or Robin on [email protected].
