Farming in Protected Landscapes Programme

– Sally Pheasant, Farming Engagement Support Officer QHNL

The Farming in Protected Landscapes Programme is a grant funded programme via Defra and is available to all farmers and landowners in the Quantocks.

Our research shows that most farmers have heard about the scheme through word of mouth and we now want to spread the word as widely as we can across the Quantocks: we are trying to reach all farmers and landowners.

  • FiPL is a Defra funded grant programme delivered locally by the Quantock Hills National Landscape Team;
  • FiPL is open to all farmers and landowners in the Quantock Hills National Landscape;
  • Funding supports projects that meet at least one of the following aims:
  1. promotes NATURE
  2. mitigates the impact of CLIMATE CHANGE
  3. enhances COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
  4. increases FARM BUSINESS RESILIENCE
  • There is a rolling application window, and our local panel meets every 6 weeks to consider applications.
  • Project activities must be completed by March 2025.
